About LGBT Bar LSD

Year Founded: 1989

The National LGBT Bar’s Law Student Congress is the only national LGBT law students organization in the nation. It is involved in organizing the National LGBT Bar Association’s annual career Fair & conference (Lavender Law®), administering the annual Michael Greenberg Writing Competition and student leadership awards. The Law Student Congress promotes regional and national interaction between LGBT law students and lawyers and helps LGBT students build contacts within the profession. It also engages in activism of concern to law students. Recently, it has participated in a national effort to end “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” and has submitted a recent amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court arguing for the University of California Hastings Law School’s ability to deny recognition to student groups that discriminate against LGBT students.
